Waste Reduction
We are committed to reducing the amount of waste produced at all of our events with the goal of working toward a zero-waste policy.
Our strategies:
- Partnering with vendors who prioritize sustainability in their practices
- Using compostable food containers to reduce waste from disposable products
- Providing recycling and composting stations to encourage proper waste disposal
- Offering electronic promotional materials (programs, posters, brochure schedules) in place of pamphlets to reduce paper use
- Coordinating with vendors to provide free potable water for water bottle refill to reduce plastic consumption
We are committed to reducing the amount of waste produced at all of our events with the goal of working toward a zero-waste policy by September 2025.
We ask our colleague arts producers to join us. If you have knowledge, skill, and time to assist, advise, or manage our plan, we invite you to join our team and our steps in this direction.
“Land speaks first”. We are listening.

Greenhouse Gas Emission Reduction and Carbon Offsetting
Given the urgency of the climate crisis, we recognize the importance of reducing GHG emissions.
Our Strategies:
- Sourcing local food and beverages to reduce the environmental impact of CO2 emissions from transportation, and support local businesses
- Providing vegan food options to reduce emissions and deforestation from animal agriculture
- Encouraging attendees to carpool, bike, use public transit or other eco-friendly means of transportation
- Documenting carbon equivalent from traveling artists and offsetting by purchasing carbon credits
Communicating and Promoting Green Action from Attendees
It is important that all attendees have the opportunity to choose sustainable actions through guidance and adequate communication.
Our Strategies:
- Creating a carpool coordinating forum and providing public transit options/directions on the event’s social media page (or other online forum)
- Encouraging reusable water bottle use
- Displaying clear, visible signage for recycling, composting, tap water availability, bike racks, and sustainable food selection
- Incorporating environmental facts on signs that help promote sustainable actions
- Communicating the event’s green initiatives and recommendations for green action from attendees through signage, social media, electronic programing, and communicating directly with the audience
