Live Keynote: Tender City: The Silent Slow Dance Project
Live Keynote: Tender City: The Silent Slow Dance Project research and creation
Join us for a live keynote exploring connection, movement, and shared human experience, with a focus on male intimacy and the lived experience of gay, trans, and bi men.
This event explores Kevin’s artistic practice and the evolution of Tender City: The Silent Slow Dance Project, a socially engaged dance project inviting queer men in different cities to participate in partnered silent slow dances in public urban spaces. The project juxtaposes the order and efficiency of the urban landscape – already a reflection of hetero-patriarchal capitalist ideals – with tenderness, and physical connections – particularly between queer men who navigate connection in a city or world that rejects their existence. Tender City translates this intimate choreography into an urban public silent slow dance.
This gathering invites a thoughtful conversation—one grounded in curiosity, vulnerability, and the quiet choreography of being together in public space.
The live project of Tender City: The Silent Slow Dance Project will take place during PRIDE week events.
