While shows reemerge to light the stage and touring companies come and go, the Nordic/Nanaimo Exchange, with artists Samantha Letourneau (Nanaimo) and Mårten Spångberg (Sweden), has been evolving behind the scenes since the height of the pandemic.
This culminating phase of the Nordic/Nanaimo Exchange project was funded by Canada Council for the Arts Digital Now program. Formulated during the pandemic, it seeks to support artists in bringing their artwork to the digital realm.
Experience the culmination of this digital collaboration and in-depth discussion of its creative processes at the Nordic/Nanaimo Artistic Exchange Public Launch!
Hosted by Crimson Coast Dance, the Nordic/Nanaimo Exchange facilitated digital collaboration in artistic practice and research, generating inspiration, critical navigation, and community across the arts.
Interdisciplinary artists Samantha Letourneau and Mårten Spångberg’s collaboration has grown, through an expanded understanding of aesthetic practice, into a decentralized mycelium-like organism with an internet-accessible afterlife.
The resulting Nordic/Nanaimo Exchange digital artworks look at how technology operates in the world, inventing and collecting alternative approaches, through a social, knowledge producing, or ecological context.
Live as of Friday April 26th, view Samantha and Marten’s artworks online.
