Kiss the Stormy Sky
Dance Theatre, written, Choreographed & Performed: Sid Ryan Eilers
Kiss The Stormy Sky is a powerful interdisciplinary solo performance by Sid Ryan Eilers (they/them), coming to Nanaimo as part of a four-city national tour. Following acclaimed performances in Hamilton (2022), St. Catharines (2023), Halifax (2024), and Kitchener and Toronto (2025), Eilers now brings their intimate and cinematic dance-theatre experience to Vancouver Island audiences.
Kiss The Stormy Sky is a compelling visual masterpiece of dance theatre and emotionally raw performance rooted in Eilers’ personal lineage. Spanning the Russian Revolution, WWII, and the #MeToo movement, Eilers portrays four generations of family—great-great grandfather, grandmother, mother, and self—interrogating inherited trauma, queer existence, and the gender binary.
With haunting original music by queer Black artist Shn Shn (she/they) and rich visuals that weave time, memory, and movement, this work is an act of witnessing and remembrance.
”Eilers’ physicality is breathtaking as they move about the stage, enticing the audience with their captivating performance (aided in no small part by composer Shn Shn).” – Amanda Cobsy-Nesbitt
