The Annual Body Talk HiP HoP PoW WoW Spring Break Workshop, March 21-26 brings Indigenous and non-Indigenous teens together to learn hip hop dance with Mr. Groove himself, AJ Megaman, writing, poetry and song by the one and only Sirreal, to deepen their understanding of culture through dance with Tzinquaw Dancers and teachings by Snuneymuxw Elders. THEN on March 26, youth have a workshop with Haisla rappers, Yung Trybez and Young D, in other words, The Snotty Nose Rez Kids!
Body Talk HiP HoP PoW WoW performance is the crescendo to the week long workshop! All participants and artists perform, including SacRED [Ecko Aleck] and the show closer is a concert by Snotty Nose Rez Kids!
Workshops take place at VIBE Dance Studios in Nanaimo. The performance takes place at Malaspina Theatre, VIU (Building 310, 900 5th St, Nanaimo, BC) at 7:30 pm on March 26th.
