Accessing Here and Now Digital Residency with Geneviève Johnson
A weekly Digital Residency blog by Genevieve Johnson, who has worked since 1995 as an actress, dancer and choreographer.

Geneviève Johnson has worked since 1995 as an actress, dancer and choreographer in Montreal with Larry Tremblay, Martine Beaulne, Estelle Clareton, Eric Jean, Pigeons International, Brigitte Poupart, Michel Monty and with Holly Bright, Nicole Mion, Jennifer McLeish-Lewis, Robert Seatton, in Nanaimo amongst others.

Geneviève completed a PhD in 2008 from University of Quebec in Montreal investigating embodied métissage principles in her practice of butoh and poetry to establish new ways to create, perform and train. Since 2006, she has collaborated with dancer/choreographer Holly Bright on numerous performances, using her creative language of poetry in motion – Landscape Under Skin Theatre. In June and July 2018, she performed in their latest collaboration The Sun and The Moon in Nanaimo and Vancouver (Dancing On The Edge), with Nicola Jackson. With a grant from Canada Art Council, Holly and Geneviève are about to embark in a new creative adventure with choreographer Tedd Robinson creating a piece for them.

Enrolled in Digital Media Studies at VIU since September 2020, Geneviève is now exploring the process of bringing dance to film and creating movement for different digital media. Also a certified Pilates instructor since 2003, she teaches classes on Mat, Reformer, Wunda Chair, Trapeze Tower and Core Align at Fine Balance Pilates in Nanaimo.
